Do you know what rhymes with Friday? VODKA. We are using it to whip up some homemade baileys and spike our coffee for our Friday Love Notes today. There’s a free downloadable recipe card. And cake. Of course there’s cake. Cake solves everything.

What’s new with me?

Didja know that my daughter Tristan is now part of the Design The Life You Want To Live team? I just LOVE working with her. PS. Tristan doesn’t swear as much as me. So lucky for you. 🙂

Moi : Drops f-bomb. Drops the mic. Walks off the stage.

The baileys recipe is right here :

Enter your email and the recipe card will be in your inbox STAT. Download it. You will absolutely freak your face.

* h i c c u p *

We bottle the baileys in these glass bottles and bring them along as hostess gifts to holiday parties! We should be friends, am.I.right?

What are you watching on Netflix? I’ve been binge watching Queer Eye, Call The Midwife, and every season of Greys Anatomy. {{ Don’t judge me.}} Have you watched LION? *tears-they-be-a-flowin*

Uhhhhmmm…. It’s been snowing around here for like 35 months straight. There was one tiny sliver of time to photograph a pretty moment before the snow storms come again. Which is now, until the end of time apparently.

I’m hibernating for the winter. See you never.

5 .

I just put these cozy slippers on my wish list. Hoping someone will see this and send them to me. *Hint hint* hubster.

On a personal note: this has been a big year. Oh hiiiii cancer, you can be a bit douchy. We’ve been swinging at cancer like a Southern church lady swings her purse, wearing her Sunday best. Ask me anything you’d like to know about that.

Shopping: Gah. I have never liked shopping in a mall. I usually want to taser people for stealing my parking spot. Doing all my shopping online this year. Stamped it. Double stamped it. Should I make some gift guides for you? I can let you know what I am purchasing to make shopping for the people in your life easier than ever. I’m nice like that. You’re welcome.

Let’s talk Etsy home faves. (I swear I won’t hit you with a sequin pillow.) Last week, we put together our all time favourite Etsy finds and shops in one place. Here’s the blog post with our 14 fave Etsy shops in the history of ever. Get stoked!! So good. So so so so good.

Do you love music? Me too. It’s like we just get each other. Here’s my playlist on Spotify. Do you ever sing to a song you don’t really know… but there’s that 15 second part that you know is coming? You’re gonna own that shit.

Are you lovin Instagram these days. Me? I dunno.  Instagram is a like a slutty friend that I should hate but I still go out with. Weekend plans? Besides deleting me from Instagram?

What’s new with you?

Tell me everything you’ve got. Where do you live? Have any fave accounts on Instagram? (right after you delete mine) Want to know my insider secret on how to hang curtains in the most gorgeous way? Want to know about roadtripping in an RV? Want to know more personal stuff about my life? Want to talk about boobs? I do. Where’s your fave place to travel? Will you pack me in your suitcase? Did I just sound like a weirdo? Do your ears hang low, do they wobble to and fro?

ask me anything.

PS. I love you. The end.

Hi Lynne, I have your Chunky Wool Blanket Knit pattern and was hoping you could tell me the type of white yarn you used? This particular pattern calls for 1500 yards of chunky yarn and size 50 needle. I received the pattern some years ago and would also love to have the link for the video tutorial mentioned.
    Thank you for your time!

  2. CYNTHIA says:

Hi Lynne! I’ve been one of your devoted insiders for some years now…love ya! Have a quick question for ya…so during this pandemic we’re renovating (fun, not) I too love white but there are so many shades of it, sad face. Pleeeez pleeez help me…can you recommend a shade of white in Benjamin Moore line? I’d be like eternally grateful! I have the fan decks before me and IDK (another sad face) Hugs from a distance

    • Lynne Knowlton says:

      Hi Cynthia !
Yes, I agree.. there are sooo many whites. GAH !!!

My all time fave white is called SIMPLY WHITE by Benjamin Moore. The colour number is OC-117. It is white, but a warm white, but not tooo warm, not yellowish, just creamy white but not too creamy. ha.

I hope that helps. I literally use it on every square foot of my home. Trim (glossy) ceiling, walls (matte or eggshell), cabinets (they have a cabinet paint too) and floors .. and I never have to worry about matching it or trying to remember which white I used. LOL.

You can see a bit more info about it here on our FAQ page too : https://lynneknowlton.com/faqs

      Hope that helps!

I so enjoy all you write.. photograph etc…Nothing but hope and good thoughts to you and yours.. you rekindled my love of knitting !

    • Lynne Knowlton says:

      Hi Laurie,

So sorry I missed your comment until today. I’m late to the party, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your beautiful compliment and I’m soooo happy you love the blanket kit !! Isn’t it just the best? Ahhhh.

      Big love!
      Lynne xx

  4. Robin says:

Lynne——Oh how I love your blog and website! I also love your home/decor/everything. I live in beautiful San Diego, ca and we have a small “cookie cutter” Southern California, small, two story home. I LOVE white, and your style of decor appeals to me. It’s clean, simple, cozy and most of all inspired! I’m just not sure how to incorporate your beautiful style into such “mass produced” home.
Any suggestions on how to get started? (Besides flying you down to San Diego for the next 6-12 months, minimum!😉😂😉)

  5. Postscript: Dangit, comments made on my phone do not aptly reflect my normal grammar usage…😳 I do no wurds goodly…I swear! 😂

  6. Oh Lynne,
How I didn’t realize I needed expertly places f-bombs (that we’re coming out of someone else’s mouth for a change 😉) after a craptastic week full of marathon appts at Hamilton Children’s Hospital (amazing) for my daughter, MRI and bone scan for my dad who is battling two types of cancer (F.U. cancer), an Aunt who passed away and a washing machine that decided to spew rusty water all over the laundry room (of our new, old house which is in desperate need of some love) while my husband is away…but I bought a new rug which is making my happier as I sit on it in front of the Christmas tree and cry. All that is a really long way of saying sharing your journey helps, your remarkable style sense reminds me there’s always beauty in the little things and your Airstream gives me enough of the feels to cherish our epic, heat-wave powered, boondock-filled trailer road trip down Route 66 in 2017. It’s time for another adventure, I think. So in true ‘ask me anything’ style: How do you stay focused on work (and life) when it feels like you’re crumbling at the edges a little bit? Much love, and good vibes.

    • Hi Melina,

I swear f-bombs may be what saves us all. LOL… and wow, your words.. you are a beautiful writer, you gorgeous thannnng !!

What a week it has been for you, and holy shit you have a lotta lotta going on in your life. I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. F U Cancer, big time.

To answer your question (although I feel like I could just sit here and write love notes to you all day 🙂 is that I focus on the beauty of simple things. By finding beauty in the little moments (like you did… by enjoying sitting on a new rug, and focusing on the good stuff… like boondocking memories <--- LOVE that you did that!) ... it usually jolts me into a better frame of mind. When I'm having a really tough go, I light candles, my fave incense, play my fave music, and just ahhhhhh. Sometimes I cry. And it's okay to do that. It feels pretty fucking great, actually. Feel all the feels. If you need to cry, cry. If you feel happy, feel it and love on it. Lean into love. I truly believe that love answers a lot of questions, as corny as that may sound. Accept that crumbling at the edges is okay too. It is so perfectly normal to crumble at the edges. Holy shit, you have some big stuff swirling around you like a crazy straw. That can suck the energy out of any beautiful soul. Love. Lean in. Focus when you can. Say fuck it when you can't. Rest. Go back to it when it feels right. Sending you big love and good vibes tooooooo. Lynne xx

  7. Sheila Morrow says:

Did you go ahead and purchase the white electric fireplace on Wayfair??
If you did – are you happy with it? Where did you put it?
Would love to see a picture
    Thanks SO much!

    • Hi Sheila, ooohhhhh I came so close, and had it in my check out… and then realized it was not a recessed fireplace wall mount. It is a fireplace mount that sits out on a wall, so the heat can exit from the fan. FAB price, but I want one where it sits right in the wall. Which is more mooollla. Dang it. So I’m saving up for the next sale. How about you? Do you need one that sits on the wall, or in a wall? PS. I also noticed that some wall fireplaces have NO HEAT. What? Lol. Watch for that. The sale one that I linked to has heat tho. Say yay!
      Happy shopping! Lynne x

  8. Brenda says:

Well, hello there. Been awhile. I wanna ask: where did you get the enamel (I assume) kitchen sink with the integrated drainboard?!! I rented a house yoinks ago that had one and have lusted after one of my own even since. (Should have ‘borrowed’ it when I moved out, but there’s that whole moral dilemma shit)

    • Brenda! You borrow just like me. haha! I borrowed that one from a friend of mine who had it sitting in their yard and wanted to plant plants in it. So we gave it a new life. It was a whole lotta hard work tho… sanding it, and refinishing it… but worth it. Next time tho, I think I’ll send it to a pro refinisher. They are sooooo lovely when the sinks are re-done.

      Happy sink foraging! Lynne xx

  9. Carol says:

Hi!! So so soooooo glad your back! I’ve missed you. I was following you on Instagram too but for awhile now I can’t and I don’t know or understand why!😢😭😫I’ll keep trying though. So glad to hear from you again …… you always make me smile💕. Congrats to Tristan also …… kiss kiss!!!😘

  10. Emily King says:

I love love love your blog and content! So, YAY! Your authenticity and laid back kinda f-bomb droppin’ style I really dig 😉
My question is about biz! Do you have a social media calendar you use, or do you kinda just write it as it comes and post on the spot?! Just curious…

    • Hi Emily !
I’m so happy you asked that question, because I’ve been thinking about writing a true-nitty-gritty-foooooo-real blog post about all things biz. Truth is, for the most part, I’ve just been winging it…(not my smartest business move) Now that Tristan is on board with me, we have been working on an editorial calendar and planning. How about you? Do you use a social media calendar?

I love reading your success story and Ecourse sell out too! Woot! #GOALS

Maybe we need to collab some day and have a retreat in the Treehouse + Cabin Retreat 🙂

      Big love!

  11. Judi Burnes says:

Having you back with your incredible attitude and light makes the world a little better. I dont have a question, am just so glad to see Michael’s post, I was so worried. You two make being married the best thing ever.

    • Judi ! You are so sweet for saying that out loud. Thank you thank you thank you. That Michael, he’s so easy to love and be married to. I’m a lucky gal.

Sending big love and happy light your way !

      Lynne xx

  12. Carissa says:

I was tickled to see your Friday newsletter in my email today. I was having a bit of a crap moment and decided to check my email and there it was ready to make me giggle. And brighten my moment. No questions for you today but I can add my two cents about keeping white clean. Most of the time I use washing soda and detergent but put the washer on predawn and extra rinse. That combo gets it pretty clean. If it gets extra dirty, I do borax, washing soda and detergent with the same prewash and extra rinse.

    • Carissa !
Dang those crap moments, right? EEEEEP. I hear ya sista.

Great laundry tip, btw!! You know, I’ve had washing soda in my laundry room for a year, and haven’t tried it yet. Who am I? haha. I LOVE that you just inspired me to give it a whirl.

I really think we should just live together. Imagine our white our clothes would be? LOL.

      Big love,
      Lynne x

  13. Linda Manuel says:

Glad you’re back from way down here in Texas. You are such a hoot and have been sorely missed! Need mah chuckles ya know!!

    • Hi Linda! Oh it feels soooooo good to be back. So so so so good. Can I come live with you in Texas? I know it’s warmer there. haha. We visted last year in our airstream and LOVED it.

Sending out some chuckles to the universe for you…
Many more laughs to follow xx

      Lynne !

  14. lilyapple58 says:

Hiya…so I’m wondering if you are back???? I would like to recommend you and your blog/instagram to a friend. You are a hoot and quite inspiring. However it was over a year for you to respond to a question I had. Yeah yeah…I know life gets in the way. 🙂 I assumed you to be in the Canadian demographic but see you deal in U.S funds (I get how that works). I would love to see more Canadian content, websites, links. This is not meant to be criticism just a shout out to find more “fun, of certain age, Canadian female bloggers” who live and love life. Keep on keeping on!

    • Hi there! Yes, I’m baaaaack 🙂 And thank you for your input. So sorry I took so long to respond, my inbox and DMs are the size of Mt. Everest sometimes, but I really do try to respond to as many as possible. Sometimes I slip up, and can’t keep up. Life. Ya know? 🙂 I love being Canadian and sharing Canadian content, and yet, the majority of my readers are in the US. We offer our shop in US dollars because that is the majority, however we do offer our products in Canadian dollars for our Canadian customers too. Just send us a note to orders@lynneknowlton.com and we will be sure to discount your order for the exchange into Canadian funds.

      Hope that helps!
      Keep on keeping on tooooooo.

      Big love!
      Lynne x

  15. Christal Krahenbil says:

HI from Saskatchewan, Canada!! Thanks for the recipe but you should really put a bottle of it in a crocheted wine bag as a gift to whoever!! I have made a couple dozen of them to sell at craft fairs.!!! Very nice!!
    Christal K.

    • Ooooh Christal ! That sounds like a beautiful idea! Do you sell them on Etsy too? If not, I may need to hop on a plane and come to one of your craft fairs 🙂

      Happy creating!
      Lynne x

    …that’s all I got

  17. Cindy Marlow says:

Just sayin’ that I’m glad you brought your crazy ass back to blogging. You are a definite highlight. I was happy to see Michael ask you a question because I was afraid that jackass cancer was the reason you’d been scarce. Typing this while listening to your Spotify playlist.

    • Ohhhh I’m so glad I brought my crazy ass back to blogging too, Cindy!! It feels so good to be baccck. Yeah, jackass cancer sometimes gets in the way, but we are going to lean into it and share the love right back out so we can help others get through the messy middle too. So cool that you are listening to the Spotify playlist! There are so many sweet songs on there. Big love!! Lynne xx

  18. Trudi says:

Hi Lynne, would really love some Crimbo gift guides!

    • Hi Trudi ! Thanks for teaching me a new word for the day!! Crimbo !!! I had to google that. Story of my adult life. Google and cake solves everything. Will do!! Crimbo guides coming up soon! If you check out our new shop page, we are updating it every few days, so lots of great ideas / gift guides will be appearing there 🙂

      Big love! Lynne xx

  19. Lori says:

Love the three photographs you posted of you two and the desert. As always, your taste is exquisite. Thanks for sharing.

  20. Ellen Przybylska says:

Please may I have an official figure for how many knitted/crocheted blankets a home needs? I’ve just seen yet another one I MUST make. It’s in dahlia colours which go with absolutely nothing in my house but I still want it!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • Haha Ellen, you may be asking the wrong gal. I have about 43874 knitted blankets in my house. There’s no such thing as too many throw blankets. Go wild. It sounds fab! Big love! Lynne xx

  21. Linda says:

Ok so I’m not THE original post on this but… how do you keep things so white? I’m thinking of just doing what I’ve wanted to do. Paint it all white, dark hardwood floors and beautiful royal blue everywhere I can put it! But I have a dog -a big very well behaved dog. But will I hate how it shows dirt. Thank you for letting me ramble.

    • Hi Linda! I find white so easy to keep clean, but maybe that makes me a double weirdo. LOL. White paint is easy to keep clean, because no one is walking on the walls. LOL. If I see dirt, I wipe it. Even light coloured rugs are easier than dark colours of rugs. Dark rugs show every little thing. There’s no such thing as too much white 🙂 Big love! Lynne x

  22. Jessica A says:

How do you keep your white everything white? Towels, linens, kitchen cloths. They allll stained. HALP! Bleach doesn’t work half of the time ughh

    • Hi Jess!! I agree, bleach isn’t exactly theeeee best thing ever. Have you tried Bissell OxyPro ? Canadian tire sells it ! It is fab fab fab for getting stains out. In the summer, I hang as much as possible on the laundry line, and mother nature sunshine is amazing for making whites white again. But now that it’s snowing, that’s not so helpful, right?

Other cheats that I do : I use dishwasher soap instead of laundry soap sometimes. I also use vinegar now as my fabric softener ( 1/4 cup per load ) right into the fabric softener dispenser. It softens, and brightens… and there is no smell of vinegar after either. Plus – no static cling. Woot !! And clean as a whistle. Last but not least, I have heard that a baking soda soak helps to whiten whites. Try that, and tell me if I should try it 🙂

      Big love!
      Lynne xx

  23. Linda C Johnston says:

I like you. Yup! I REALLY like you. So glad I subed. Can;t wait for the next post! Looking forward to it.

  24. Michael says:

    Hi Love:
It’s so great that you announced to the WORLD that you and Tristan have paired up. Watching the two of you work together is dreamy. It’s fun, it’s creative, and it’s magical to see from my vantage point.

Is it ok to tell you that you’re getting slippers for xmas? Just reading over your best shopping buys to see what else to add to your list. You know I don’t do well in shopping malls at the best of times.

    Go ‘A’ Team Go! xo
