OUR KITCHEN RENOVATION
Our kitchen is still under renovation, don't judge us LOL. We are embracing the art of slow living, slow decorating, and a beautifully slow quiet life (although it is still filled with dirty dishes and margaritas haha.) We have been updating this page as we update the kitchen. We hope our new kitchen and great room inspires you too. We worked with IKEA to create a customized version of an IKEA kitchen // Knowlton style! The cabinets, drawers, fronts, sinks, and Caesarstone quartz countertops are all IKEA. We LOVE the look and top notch quality of it all !! IKEA is one of our alllll time fave brands and we love love love their sustainability model... being good to people and the planet. We further customized our kitchen by making our own wood fluting along the island using the same vintage wood as our floors. We added an arch, invested in a white / brass new ILVE range (erhhhmergerd they are expensive but it has been so worth it !!) and so much more... Here we go....
We think of lighting as ART. Where and how you place it, is important. In the photo above, we have mocked up these wall sconces that we will be ordering soon. Hudson Valley Lighting makes such beautiful quality lighting!. Adore! We are still trying to decide if we will put any window coverings on our Fieldstone Windows. It's such a pretty view outside, so I dunno. The windows are pretty all on their own too. Hmm.. Decisions decisions. For the island we offset the light to add a bit of whimsy. It counter balances with the sink and created a social area at one end of the island. We will be carrying the Moroccan lights in our shop here soon.

We are big believers in having a social area in the kitchen. If possible, bring a sofa into your kitchen / great room. It is so beautifully enjoyable. This Farlov sectional sofa is from IKEA but it is unfortunately discontinued. We love love love it. We've updated this space with curtains and curtain rods, and hope to share those soon too. ( Links to the curtain rods etc are listed at the bottom of this page here. )
The organic white Caesarstone Quartz countertop is a fave (the name of it is Kasker off white marble effect at IKEA) It's shaped with an arch at one end to make a cohesive look with the wood arch into the pantry. It also made for more island seating and a nice rounded area to sit around. LOVE. We layered wood under the counter to make it even look even more creative ! The IKEA kitchen looks so customized this way! You can read more about our planning process here on our blog.
