The best leap we ever took
It was a phone call out of the blue from my parent’s neighbours that changed everything. When they called my mom and asked us to stage their beautiful 150 year old schoolhouse, Andrew and I instantly envisioned our lives in the countryside.
Sometimes you can't plan the way life goes, you just have to leap in the new direction. The schoolhouse was the only house we ever saw but after one snowy evening viewing, we had mentally moved ourselves in and started our life there. It wasn't just about the possibility of what the house could be that we fell in love with. It was the possibility of raising kids across the road from my parents, getting to walk to the end of our driveway to buy fresh eggs, sending our future kiddies to a country school, the rolling hills, the changing leaves and being back with old friends. It was all of it.
It's been a year and a half of renovations and lots more to still do but we are really basking in the process and all the steps that it takes to make it our dream house.
A bedroom sanctuary is all about creating a space to unwind, relax and rejuvenate. We love using neutral colours such as white, taupe and earthy shades, to create a feeling of calm. Your bed is often the focal point of the room and having soft comfy linens and pillows makes for a heavenly space. We love keeping things to minimum to avoid clutter and distraction. Soft lighting can help create a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Use dimmers on your lights for a cozy ambiance and bedside lamps with warm Edison light bulbs. A big thank you to Crate and Barrel Canada for helping to create this bedroom oasis.
