This outdoor furniture is beyond perfect and gorgy gorgeous. You’ll want to hug it and call it Betty Boomchakalaka.

Article outdoor furniture

Okay.  Guys. I have to tell you something.

I have been trying to master the art of outdoor SLOW living for 457895747 years, and guess what happened?  It sucked, I cried, had a temper tantrum and a much needed stiff cocktail.  People should seriously stop expecting normal from me. We all know that it’s never going to happen.

peaceful backyard space

Sometimes there’s a totally logical reason for changing up your back yard. Sometimes it’s just like, my life and backyard suck and I really just need to switch things up.

Get ready.

This is all based on a mostly true story. Some of this actually happened. Pure factual happenings. Nothing made up, nothing exaggerated, gospel truth, nothing fabricated. You can even ask Michael if you doubt me. I’m holding THE TRUTH GOBLET IN.MY.HAND.RIGHT.NOW. By the way, what is a truth goblet?!!!  If the truth goblet is red wine, I’m definitely holding it.

My life was an absolute shit-show-shitastrophy last year.

Michaels terminal cancer was at its all time worst. Our contractor also decided that he wanted to ruin our life for 34793574 days straight. Like hey, as if the kitchen disaster wasn’t enough. I’m still not sure if we should redo the kitchen or just burn it.

And.you.think.I.joke.

Yeah.

And it got worse.

Our local township forced us to rezone our treehouse + cabin retreat property and make unreal-off-the-charts-like-dig-up-the-entire-foundation-changes. I think I stared a nervous break down right in the eyeballs. It was next level, crazy pants life mayhem. I almost drove off a Thelma and Louise cliff.

Rant over.

You’re like, thank gawd.

Life is good now. So is our backyard.

Backyard LURVE

Before I even begin this blab fest, I have to tell you something. My love for Article is years strong.   Redonk love. When they reached out to me to see if we could work together, I practically handed them my house keys. My heartbeat definitely fell through my butt.

Dear Article,

Hot damn, your furniture is so pretty!!!  It cuts my grass, floats my boat, and butters my bread with happiness. Rock me Amadeus.

PS. I love you. The end.

Sponsored but not really

This is technically-not-so-technically a sponsored blog post. Some items I purchased on my own. Some were gifted from Article.  I didn’t receive any payment to say anyfiiing.  Nuffffing.  This blab fest is totally my own. I paid for all the accessories, all the hard work, all the everything (except some of the Article furniture.) I did all my shopping online…. because hey, that is what living in the middle of nowhere is all about. Article is online only. All blood, sweat, and tears are embarrassingly my own too.  My gift to me.  Sometimes, when I am super busy (hello Treehouse + Cabin Retreat season) I like to compound that by taking on new projects that have absolutely no meaning to anyone else. Except my own head.

Oh hi, awesome pics

*I need to add a disclaimer right here : many of these photos are amazing and therefore not taken by me.  I specialize in yellowish-blurred photos and drive by shootings out the car window.  Yes, I always clench my teeth. Because, hello bugs.

If you spot the crap photos in the post, those are mine.  I can take a photo, but I’m usually running through the fields in my flannel jammies, tripping on my slippers and spilling my coffee down my shirt while teetering an iphone and using the least amount of fingers possible.   I know jack squat about how to coordinate pajamas, coffee and iphonography.

The photos of the Article furniture in this post are by Toronto photographer Tyler Bowditch.

Hellooooo gorgeous styling…

Beeee teeee dubsss, it runs in the family… my daughter @TristanJayne is a stylist extraordinaire ! Need help styling your space? She’s your gal!! She styled theeeeee entire poolside space, because I was still breathing down the dragons neck of a nervous breakdown.  She loves to style.

Brace yo’self.

Get home. Take bra off immediately. Shop at Article.

10 Lessons I learned while creating a cozy outdoor space, because I’m a dork.

That, and cozy is my jam.

1.

I obvs love backyard twinkle lights (OmgOmgOmgOmg), comfy loungy sectionals (holy cow) and throw pillows everywhere (dear lawd). It’s so wonderful and beautiful and I can’t talk about it a second longer or else I’ll bawl my face off with happiness.

2.

Make it all super comfy cozy.  Like seriously. COMFY <– I hollered that.   I bought a lot a lot a lot online at H & M home.  If you tell Michael, I will plead innocence.

He’s like… hun, is that a new blanket at the pool?

Me :  What, that old thing? We’ve had it for years (translation: I bought it last week)

I buy all my linen bedding there too.Obsessed. Unless Michael is reading this.  I never buy linen. I’m totally holding my truth goblet right now.

Question: Will a liars pants really catch on fire?  Asking for a friend.

3.

Lighting will light up your life: Twinkle lights will cause you to hang out more in a space. See what I did there? I freaked my ish when we hung the string lights. I use incandescent edison style bulbs because because LED makes me barf in my shoe. LED is fugly with a capital F.

We also put the twinkle lights on dimmers. Because hey. Wrinkles.  The struggle is real. Didja know you could put dimmers on string lights? I didn’t. Do it. So good. So so so good.

4.

Aesthetically, I dig the design style of less is the new more.  Unless you are talking about throw pillows. Then all bets are off.

5.

The rug. It will floor you.  This one from Article is made from recycled plastic. How insanely funky is that?!  An outdoor rug just grounds the space. Excuse the pun.

6.

BLACK.

Paint.

I mean painting seems easy enough, right? Right. I got this. Stop rolling your eyes.

Can we talk about paint for a sec ?

I used to paint everything white from top to bottom forever and always, and my friends and family would have a bonafide conniption watching me paint anything that stood still long enough.  They all gave me the EYES.  The ‘erhhhmergerd, what on earth are you doing wrecking things‘ face?!!!

Well, Coal Black Fusion Mineral Paint is my new BFF.

I’m talking way too much about paint right now. If I told you that I haven’t brushed my hair in a week, would that make things better between us?

7.

I got super duper supercalifragilisticexpialidocious inspired (shocker!) when we visited here last year.  I’m telling you. Black mixed with whites and neutral jute and earthy tones... well… they gobsmack me.

It’s my new obsession. Ugh. Dead.

Naturally, everything in my house, life, cabin, treehouse, poolside area, panty drawer, trunk of my car… well…. it’s all black, jute and rattan… mixed with love, wine and popcorn.  Popcorn?! Did someone say popcorn?!  *_*.  This has nothing to do with anything, but I love this popcorn maker with all my heart and soul.  Legit. I’d put a ring on it.

8.

Make it realistically (is that a word? who cares) cozy & liveable. Like, if someone sat on your outdoor furniture, soaking wet, with a glass of red wine in one hand and a bowl of buttery popcorn in another ( who would do that? Not me. Totally me) … then your furniture has to be durable enough that you won’t feel the sudden urge to throat punch your guests. Or kids. Or me.

Outdoor furniture needs to be water friendly, pack-of-beer friendly, spilly-mother-in-law friendly, pool friendly, all the friendly.

ALL OF IT.

9.

Set your goals high and your expectations low for getting it done.  I had high goals for gorgy gorgeous furniture.  I had low expectations that I would get it assembled. Didja know that with Article you can get that included in your delivery?  I almost smooched the delivery men when they assembled the 473057459457 screws and bits and thingies to assemble the furniture.

Furniture assembly normally means I need a cigarette and a nap and I don’t even smoke.

I swear I’m almost done with poolside photos! For the day. Hour. Second.

10.

P.S. You can’t fix ugly. Buy only what you love.  Keep the things in your home that you really really really love. The outdoor furniture. I’m in love with it. I want to name it Betty, stuff it in my bra and keep it for forever. It fills me with a deep quiet satisfaction.  It’s intoxicating.  Weird, right?  Don’t answer that. It wasn’t a real question.

Tell me your summer plans! Tell me your backyard faves. I need these details to thrive in life. That, plus I go to bed at 8:30 pm every night, like a 89 year old.  If you even try to convince me to stay up later ( or use LED light bulbs ) we will need to talk.

Has anyone else ever happy danced it out so hard that they knock their sunglasses off their face with their cha cha flailing arms? Just checking for a super cool friend.

    Stunning !!!!!!!

  3. Mom says:

oh my gawd….Im in style again lol. Remember when you painted your kitchen doors black, and table legs etc. Well, of course I painted my window frames black, my doors black and all sorts of cool trim (even furniture.) Remember when you did that years and years ago before your white-out days. Well, truth is, everything is still black (although I have changed wall colours in my bedroom and living room to white-ish/soft cream/pale pale green……and Im working my way to the kitchen…..anyways :o) next year, true to form, I’ll paint everything white. LMAO. And your new furniture. Holy stink, we use to decorate like that when I was in my 20’s ( 15 years ago :o) Of course you can never keep your old stuff because it comes back in style…..because!!! Its old with a new twist. And how horrible would that be to have the same furniture for 50 years (whoops, I mean 15 years). I see the apple didn’t fall far from the tree with your cutie pie Tristan. (although at her age, weren’t we hot gluing twigs and dried flowers on wreaths??? LMAO…. I still have the glue gun burns from our all night sessions) She’s talented to the core, and comes by it honestly. Well done.

After that, it has been lurve. The quality is superb. The pricing is really great with awesome value too. Hope that helps! :)))) Lynne

We are off to our honeymoon soon. We will start in Austria and Germany to eat all the schnitzel and then let our barrels out in the Amalfi coast to finish. Thanks for all the beautiful inspiration. We’ve had trials and tribulations ie. some SHIT GO DOWN just like you but your positive outlook on life resonates through your posts. You’re killing it- keep smiling.

    • Awwhhh Danielle, thank you for the vote of encouragement AND for reminding me that I need to eat more popcorn, but in a Daisy lounge chair. haha. Sorry that you had shit go down too. Isn’t it just a kick in the teeth? Sending you best wishes for your honeymoon!!! Big love!!!! Lynne xx

  15. Barb says:

Just trying to stay cool and hydrated at the moment! Took a trip to the Midwest to visit relatives and now home and trying to make the backyard a bit more pleasing as a hangout since it is cooler outside than it is inside at times this summer. Trying to keep the a/c at a reasonable level is hard!! Using a pretty hand held fan that I swiped from my GD and drinking lots of water with lemon slices!

  16. Kiyomi says:

This is the giveaway for me! We’re spending the summer DIY’ing a new deck and screened in porch since we have little ones and need enjoy the summer stuck at home while they sleep. We need some bug protection and some comfy lounge chairs or sofa to relax with!

  17. Jen says:

We plan to camp this summer! Outdoors it is! Love EVERYTHING Article!! Have the Triplo sofa <3

  18. Maggie says:

  19. Jan says:

I’m loving the Ora sectional sofa- It’s be perfect around my fire pit. Your yard is gorgeous!

  20. Shannon Hughes says:

I plan to spend most of the summer at my family’s cottage near Bracebridge. I love Article’s outdoor rugs.

    Shannon
    P.S. you are hilarious.

  21. Cindy says:

Holeee sheeeet! (Can I say that if I exaggerate and misspell it?)
Your place is gorgeous- it looks like a resort. I had to go back to reread it cuz I’d misunderstood when you said you didn’t shoot it; I thought it was Article’s catalog shots.
Already an Article fan- their stuff is all so stylish and lovely. (I dream away on insta mostly) would love a chance to make dreams come true.
Summer plans are mostly on the fly- our backyard is beautiful (although sans super stylin’ furniture) rustic stone patio and firepit on a treed lot. We spend much time cooking our dinner over the fire and sitting around it into the evening watching fireflies (now that the mozzies are mostly done)
We’re had more opportunity to share warm Summer’s eves with friends who are kindly trekking our way for a visit. So, this summer has been filled with swimming, naps in the hammock, bonfires, grilled food, good friends and sangria!
What dreams are made of, I think.
Oh and complete with the actual warm glow of LED bistro lights (don’t hate me- LEDs have come a long way, some are actually warm tone.) Ours are solar Edison filament style and have an orange glow, the photo sensor turns them on at dusk and they dim as the power dies out, unusually around 1-2am. Come daylight the sun charges them back up for the evening’s festivities.
Ps- hope that enjoying your gorgeous backyard this summer is making up for all of last year’s crap

    • Oh hells to the yeah, you can say that Cindy. LOL about the catalogue shots. If I took them, it would look like someone streaked through the photo (and yup, that would be my husband) haha.

Aren’t fireflies just the best thing on earth? I swear, it is my fave week of summer when they come out. I wish they stuck around for the entire summer. So good.So so so good.

Wow! Photo sensor edison filament sounds awesome but you lost me at the LED. haha.

Best of luck with the contest !!!
PS. I love love loved your comment

      Lynne xx

  33. Rebecca says:

I’ve spent the summer pool-hopping with my two 5 year olds in tow. It’s great to have friends with pools…less great to come home to my inflatable kiddie pool! At least I have fired up my warm glowey outdoor lights a few times this summer – provided the cintronella candels were wafting in my general direction.
I’m mostly keen to check out one kickass Article-surrounded pool in a wee town called Durham next month aka The Pool-Hopping Championship Finals!

    • Hi Rebecca !!

We are looking forward to hosting you and your gal pals in the treehouse + cabin soon! The end of August will come soon!!! So cool that we have a mutual pal too! Send big love to my pal Brenda. Better yet, bring her with you 🙂 !!! Is it all gals that are coming? This could be dangerous. haha.

      Lynne xx

  34. Angela Kirkpatrick says:

Hellooooo Lynne….funny, sarcastic, hilarious blog goddess!

I just had knee surgery after I thought it would be a good idea to somersault myself down a mountain trying to impress a boy…stupid me, who knew I would tear my ACL trying to look cool and failing miserably. Anyway….my summer will be filled with me lounging around the house in yoga pants (because they’re the only pants that fit under my ginormous brace, it’s super sexy) rather than me summiting mountains and glamping in the great outdoors so the only outdoors I’ll be enjoying will be my backyard in serious need of a makeover. Is it possible to close my eyes and point at any one of the fabulous photos and click my heels three times (if only I was able in my handicap state) and have my backyard instantly transformed to the photo?

Stay fabulous and keep passing the baileys around!

    • Girlfrannnnn,
Somersaulting down a mountain sounds impressive. I’d marry ya. That, plus I want your magic wand. Imagine the possibilities? LOL.
You stay ab fab too and cheers to the worlds best homemade baileys! 🙂
      Big love,
      Lynne xx

Sending mad love and admiration to you, Lynn, for your boundless energy and positivity. Big cyber hugs!
ps my favourite way to knock my glasses flying off my face is hugging or kissing my too-tall family members…makes me look like a gd lunatic every time!

    • Cynthia!

Oh my word. The Sven Cascadia sofa. I’d marry it. I freaking love that thing. I need one too. I’ve admired it for 43747047549587 years. Okay, I may have exaggerated. But still. LOVE.

  47. Eleanor Stemple says:

By the way, ALL of the furnishing you post are amazing! I loved the ARTICLE website too. I can’t have it all, but my dreams don’t have a budget.

  48. Eleanor Stemple says:

In all honesty, I have danced so hard that I ended up making out with my nebulizer after a self induced asthma attack! So yes, I have danced that hard! In fact, when no one is home, I blast some old 80’s, 90’s music and dance my heart out in the kitchen. My kids don’t know I can dance because I act so goofy. But if I am ever privileged to go out with them when they are adults, I plan on giving them a run for their money! So turn up the music and keep dancing like no one is watching or at least, like me, you don’t care if they are ????

  49. Jana Caissie says:

Amazing space! Hoping to visit someday. Taking the summer to enjoy and reboot my soul. “The cracks we get in our hearts will now allow sunshine in and sadness out. ” My new mantra in life 🙂

  50. Mary Moreau says:

WOW, that is seriously one of the most beautiful spaces I have seen. So inviting, so relaxing, so inspiring.
Thank you for sharing. I hope you and your husband do spend lots of time there because it looks like it
would have a restorative, rejuvenating effect on your soul and calming effect on the nerves.
I would take my laptop, pen & paper because it would be a great place for the creative juices to flow.
It would be hard to have to leave that space.
    Mary

    • Awhhhh, thanks Mary!! It really does have a beautifully restorative rejuvenating effect. We rent the treehouse + cabin out so much over the summer, we sometimes forget to go and just chill there ourselves. Running to plunk myself on the Ora Sofa STAT. LOL.

      Big love,
      Lynne xx

  51. Lonna J Peters says:

Summer plans – wine, lake, garden (not necessarily in that order!)

  52. JEM Castor says:

Our porch desperately needs new chairs!
Summer plans…hmmm.. more days trips…sunshine..and food!

  55. Kat says:

Moved into a new place with a deck, but it is just there empty, sad, not being used because I haven’t found the right furniture! Beautiful summer evenings going to waste because I have nothing on my little deck to sit on. Sigh.

  56. Colleen Lucas says:

Well..I thought I could get away without saying or writing anything here. But the computer forced me to tell you that I love seeing all the items you put in your outside space. And the photographs are fabulous. Thanks and have a great summer.

    • That dang computer, Colleen. Hahahhaaa. I blame the comment font. It makes it so fun to leave a comment. I wish I could print this neatly. I feel like it would complete my life goals. Lynne xx

  57. Pam says:

I love your space way more than I should. I apologized to my outdoor space. I would love to have the Moda dining table from their catalog. Oh, and by the way, I had my arms so happy dancing once above my head I knocked my husbands glasses off his face. Oops…..

  58. Ariana says:

Dream color combo right there. Bought a house about a year ago and still trying to get the inside just the way we like it. We’re talking bathroom remodel, all new floors, paint (I made it through one room on my own before hiring a painter) and furniture. The last thing on our list is the backyard and your post has given me so much inspiration!

One question however…are these dog friendly? I have two amazing puppers who would love to relax and be lazy with us in the yard.

    • Hi Ariana,

So awesome that you are going for it and painting up a storm. Totally get why it makes sense for having a painter. I agree one hundred pohcennnnt. Paint is such an awesome game changer in a room.

Yes, I would definitely say they are dog friendly. I don’t have a dog but we have a barn cat (who thinks he owns the joint LOL) and wild animals ( the racoons and squirrels think they own the joint too ). Often times, they will sleep on it at night.. the little buggers… but it is really easy to just dust it off/whisk it off… and it looks as good as new. Super durable too. We sit on it wet with bathing suits… the whole thaang. LOVE.

  59. Shelly Murre says:

I love your blog! Love your style and that Oro slate grey couch???? Also, would love to win this contest!????

  60. Stacey Vass says:

I love all of the photos! Next summer we would love to install a pool and I am inspired by you!

  61. Lisa says:

Looks incredible! When I manage to stay up, I like a lux super soft throw around my shoulders, hot cacao (even when it’s 40 very humid degrees) and staring out at the tree silhouettes and night sky with of course mood lighting! I’m all about solar powered candle lanterns right now but also LUUUUUV twinkle lights. A girl’s gotta have a little sparkle 😉

  62. Meagan Williamson says:

I would really really really like to win this. Thanks. Love you.

  63. Pam says:

I have not been able to make a decision regarding which chairs I want for my sad, little deck. I’ve searched high and low, but, just like Goldilocks, I am looking for the one that is “just right”. I must have simplicity, but it must be unique! I must have comfort, but it must be sturdy! I must have a wonderful piece as an inspiration for planning the rest of my sad, little deck’s renovation! I have finally found that one in a gazillion chair, I’ve found my Muse!! It’s Article’s Teaka Lounge Chair! And now, all is right in my world (for the time being, of course!) Thank you for helping me solve an agonizing problem I’ve had for years. My family will be overjoyed to learn that soon, I will not refer to our outdoor space as, “that sad, little deck” anymore! Best – Pam

    • Hahaahhaha Pam,
We may be twinning, Goldilocks. I feel the same way. It has to be all that and a bag of chips for me to love it. Ps. this stuff is simple, yet unique. Comfortable, yet sturdy. You would LURVE.
Best of luck with the contest !!

      Lynne xx

  64. Jen Gillies says:

Ok. Your blog & insta never ceases to make me smile and inspired!!! And you teamed up with Article which we loooooove….our living room may be allll article????????! We’re renovating our deck and I have my eye on the Ora Chair…or two…or more????.

  65. karen b says:

We have a bonfire pit in our backyard but no chairs around it yet. We do also have a picnic style table. Not the best but thank goodness we do have a hot tub to chill in only on the cool summer nights. I looove going to the beach in the summer!

  66. Susan says:

Napping on the urba sectional is what summer dreams are made of…
Love your outdoor spaces (well the indoor ones too)! Our plans are to work on our yard to get it looking nice enough to justify getting twinkle lights! #oneday

    • Right Susan?! Errrhmergerd, I almost went for the Urba sectional too! Love the beach sand colour!!!! I need more backyard haha so I can invent another spot to have more Article furniture. xo Best of luck with the awesome contest! Hope you get the Urba dream sofa! Lynne xx

  67. Esta Modian says:

I love the welcoming look of your outdoor living space and kitchen! We just installed a 10′ round paver patio with a seating wall in an area of our yard that for the past 20+ years I thought of as our corner of shame (too shady for grass to grow, etc….) — we just planted some moss around the space. I have aspirations of adding a cooking area for summer use in another backyard spot, so we don’t have to heat up the kitchen in our non-airconditioned Seattle home. Just glanced at the Article website and love some of their indoor living pieces, as well!

    • Corner of shame. That’s hilarious! I have a few corners of those myself, and I am avoiding them. LOL.
Yes, their indoor and outdoor stuff is so dang pretty. Wishing you tons of luck with the contest ! Lynne xx

  68. Michele G says:

My backyard fave would be to get rid of all the weeds! Why isn’t my black thumb killing them? Anyhoo, love all the pics, especially the outdoor living room! Thanks for sharing all of your goings on. Best to you and your hubby.

    • Too funny Michele, and when you figure out how to do that, can you come to my backyard? LOL. Weeds seem to be my spirit animal. They are everywhere. ha!

Thanks for the lurve. Best to you too!
      Lynne xx

  69. Alissa Ferry says:

Summer plans = backyard bonfires featuring hobo pies and s’mores. All the nights.

  70. Kristin says:

Anything more comfortable than a picnic table, please! Ready for some comfy lounge chairs 🙂

    • Oh I hear ya sista. We had a picnic table for years, and while they are great for a quick sit down, they are hard on the buttocks. Dang. Wishing you luck in the contest so you can have a comfy toosh. 🙂

  71. Nicolette says:

Ugh, such a bummer your town is making it hard on you to bring people to the town! I will never understand that logic ????

    • I super duper agree with you Nicolette… on one hand tourism lurves us, on the other hand, township stuff made it so so so difficult for us. It was a year long process. UGH. If bureaucratic red tape had a face, I’d punch it. 🙂 Lynne

    P.S. I’m spending the day surfing Article’s website!! ????

    • LOL Christine, how dangerous was it surfing the ARTICLE website? I spend hours sometimes, just a dreamin’. LOL! No really tho, I love how their stuff is not outrageously expensive and yet so freaking pretty. Plus they deliver. For the win. ha!

Best of luck in the contest! PS. don’t forget there is a discount code for $50 that is good for the next couple of days! I already bought stuff with it. Don’t tell my hubby. haha.

  81. Sandi says:

My fav backyard thingee this summer has been a teeny tiny solar pump ($40) that I KNEW was a complete waste of moolah cause it just sort of plopped plopped plop but it ended up becoming a relaxing zen like effect when i placed it in a container of river rock and water. SMALL can be gentle and perfectly lovely if we give it a chance. It was exactly what my backyard sitting spot needed to be grounded in relaxation.

  82. KellyM says:

Your backyard looks great and I totally relate to the “just have to change EVERYTHING” mentality …. every once in a while I just HAVE to !! lol
I’ve spent the month of July getting my backyard just the way I like it and now I go out there and just smile, smile, smile ….. until I realize that there is only like another month of summer left ….. boooo.
Anyway, mostly my summer plans are to relax, enjoy my backyard and eat tomatoes.
    Love your blog !
    Kelly

  83. Evangelia Dalios says:

My plans for the rest of the summer is super super boring BUT it involves drinking Margaritas while doing it – PACKING!???? moving to our new house at the end of summer and we don’t have any outdoor furniture. Winning this g.c means I could score myself the Ora sectional and of course ALL the throw pillows – like all of them!! Seriously … ALL.OF.THEM

Also Margaritas!! (fingers and toes crossed)

    • Well girly, sending you good vibes for the contest! Drinking margaritas while packing ALMOST makes packing sound good. LOL. No outdoor furniture? Girlfran, you need to win 🙂

      Cheers big ears!

As a small business owner, I’m usually busy during the summer & spend little time in my yard. I’m currently resting & healing up from wrist injuries—-making this the first in many Edmonton summers I’ve had time to enjoy. The things I enjoy doing most in my yard is bbqing & simply “taking it all in”. Any lovely furnishing from Article would be ????. • Hi Charmane!

On the rare chance I escape to the backyard, I sit on a lonely tree stump balancing my lemonade on my knee because the boy also stole all my outdoor furniture for his zoo. You’re treehouse and poolside swag are making my stump jealous:)
    Perfectly gorgeous!
All the summer love to you, my friend????

Got a bad cold, so all happy dancing is on hold ’round here.. My summer plans include a visit to my daughter’s new home in Arizona, in 118 degree temps! Yup, that’s how I roll. She assures me that it feels like 90 degrees with the low humidity. Riiiiight. So now I’m looking for a new swimsuit (from my sofa of course), swimsuit shopping….so fun, and lots and lots of swimsuit coverups to live in while I’m there. They don’t actually expect a persn to wear real clothes in that kind of heat, do they?

I’d love to come home to something like your backyard. (That’s not a hint for an invite or anything…not at all.) Your post is like a nice dream. accompanied with a good laugh. Thanks for that. You have a great summer, Lynne!

    • Hi Penny!
Yup, I’m guessing it is almost impossible to wear anything in the heat. We were in Bali not too long ago, and it was so hot, it was torturous to put on a bra. LOL.

Hahaha… come visit, you’re invited, and I promise to put on a bra. 🙂

  116. Suzanne says:

OMG I love Article! I NEED the Arca sofa and two ARCA armchairs to FINALLY finish my back deck. Which has been empty for 12 years…that’s right, I’m 12 years behind on finishing this space!!

    • Oh my goodness Suzanne, I totally had my eyeballs on the ARCA armchairs and sofa! I almost ordered those ones, and then worried that I wouldn’t be able to fit them in our space. I love the sunwash & driftwood gray! They also look supes comfy, right?

I neeeeeed this giveaway. Our backyard, or what my kids refer to as “The Dirt Pit” has what I can best describe as “Post Apocalyptic Chic”going on right now. Trying to find my BBQ is like trying to escape Jumanji. I keep collecting furniture I’m going to “restore” and use as outdoor stuff (never going to happen, don’t know how, don’t like doing these kinds of projects) and it’s starting to pile up like a hillbilly junkyard. Help me transform my space from WTF to Whaaaaa, That’s Fabulous!!!

    • Tara,

The dirt pit ???? too funny. If it makes you feel any better, our backyard space used to be a burned down barn & garbage pit, so I feel your pain. LOL. Here’s to creating a space from WTF to Woahhhhh ! 🙂

Best of luck with the contest !!!

Hi Lynne, Your blog post made my Friday! Having a “home” day and imagining you in your super cozy office–not sure which one of the zillion cool inviting places you are settled in at the moment, but each and every square inch of your amazing property just oozes and whispers “come lounge with me”. Ahhh I can feel and inhale the peace of nature and creature comforts this very moment! Your Article furniture was soooooo amazing! Even better that we got to sit and test it out while chatting with you and Michael. Totally awesome 🙂 Was on the Article website, and I felt the Sol Rattan Daybed calling my name. As a bonus, it meets your new criteria of black, jute/rattan (mixed with love, wine and popcorn–check✔️). Plus assuming I win the contest, it will only cost me $249. I think I mentioned I painted my muskoka chairs black….must try the fusion paint….No further summer plans yet–can’t think of anywhere that could match our experience at your Treehouse/Cabin retreat. Btw, checked out that Airstream down the road from us–fail! Shall keep looking….. Anyway, so great to hear from you. Bruce and I will raise a glass to you and Michael on Tuesday! Much love, Karen♥️

    • Hi Karen!!
I am so happy that you all had a chance to come and stay in the Treehouse + Cabin Retreat and enjoy the new lounge furniture too 🙂 It was so cozy, huh?!

Oh my goodness !!! The Sol Rattan Daybed is GORGEOUS !!! It gives me goosebumps!! I think it would look ahhhhhmazing with the daisy chair too. Have you seen that one? Oh.La.La.

I blame you for adding to my popcorn addiction btw. That popcorn you brought is on my fave list of life!!!

I want to paint our muskoka chairs black too, but I will have to do it when Michael isn’t looking. hahahahhahahaha.

Dang it on the airstream. Was it just in too rough of condition? Those projects can be scary, but so happy you ventured out to look at it 🙂

      Big love!

    • Hi Jenny!
So awesome that you redid your patio !! The Article giveaway is for any furniture inside or out, so you can still enter the giveaway for some goodies for inside the house 🙂

Are you loving your new patio? Doesn’t it feel good to do a refresh ? I love that feeling !! It’s like having new shoes, and all you can do is stare at them. Just me? Okay. haha!

      Happy decorating!

We have done that same car trip from Toronto to Florida with 4 kids, and it was pretty epic 🙂 I hope you guys have a blast. Hawt tip : take lots of breaks. LOL. ha!

So cool that you were looking into Article! I like how they have set up their site too, so that all reviews good/bad/everything are public.. so you can truly see what people think of their purchases. So very authentic ! LOVE LOVE LOVE that transparency. I have friends who have bought their sofas too, and really adore them.

Enjoy the cocktail mix 🙂 teehee

We just bought our forever house – a be-ew-tee-ful log home – so we will be spending the rest of the summer unpacking, customizing, tidying up and setting up. We have a hot tub and wine if anyone wants to come over.

  130. Jennifer C. says:

I love all this furniture! It’s beautiful.

  131. Hey Lynne! Love your look – you’re always up to something gorgeous out there. The black is very contemporary – love it! Now I know you asked me a question in the giveaway, but I’ve already forgotten it ha! I’ll pick my fav Article piece in case that’s it. Apart from absolutely everything, I’d like a Daisy chair. Mainly because it has the name Daisy, and also because it would look fab in front of my Acorn fireplace. Hope you’re lounging on that amazing couch right now! xx

    • Hi Dani !!

Ohhhh I miss you girly !! How have you and Nads been? Oh my goodness, yes the daisy chair is gorgy gorgeous !! I was eyeing that one too. It’s like ART. I wouldn’t even need to sit in it to enjoy it, LOL. You? We have to get two of them, so we don’t play musical chairs when we see each other. hahaaha !

      Big love,
      Lynne xx

    • LOL Denise, Phoenix is on my road trip bucket list this winter (we want to hit the road with the airstream ) so that sunshine sounds pretty dang great to this freezing cold Canadian. haha. If you hear a knock at your door, don’t be alarmed. 🙂

So nice to hear from you! Your words always leave me smiling! Take care and live well !!!
    Regards,
    Kevin.

  135. Loving the black. I wasn’t sure at first but now I really like it. And truth be told, I enjoy how you keep changing it up. Keeps me filled with ideas.

And the Article pieces are stunning.

    • Hi Jo Ann !

Yeah, Michael wasn’t sure at first either. He just kept walking by and giving the fireplace the stink eye. haha. I have to admit, I had a few ping pangs of ‘oh my gawd, what did I do?’ too… but in the end… ahhhhhhh… we LOVE IT !!! Phew. LOL. xx

  136. Awesomeness. You always crack me up. Love the tree house, the white and the black. It’s on my bucket list. Perfect girlfriend destination.
I am wondering – how is your internet connection – way out in the boondocks of the Canadian tundra.? Do you have your own black fusion-painted satellite orbiting just for you and the treehouse guests? We are in the boondocks of the Minnesota tundra and interwebs coverage is dismal.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • Hi Vikki,

Girlfran, I feel your pain. Our internet coverage used to be so bad, I would have to stand on top of the refrigerator, chant a prayer and dangle my computer out the window just to have a wifi signal. And it was expensive too. GAH.

Just.This.Year, we have a local company who provides kickass internet to our area. When they installed it, I thought I was going to smooch them right on the lips. So good. So so so good.

Funny enough, I was going to paint our old one white, and then the new company installed a white one for me. ha! I am predictable 🙂

Hang in there, eventually the good interwebs will reach you. Or move. LOL.

      Big love,
      Lynne xx

I will continue to pray for kickass internet and I will
        smooch them – I ain’t skeered.
Take care! Hugs and prayers for you and Michael.

  137. Gorgeous and sustainable?!! You’re speaking my love language!

Lynne, I just love, love your blog! Summer plan is to spend a few days on Cape Cod. Really doesn’t get any better! I guess things could always be better but they could always be worse.

    • Oh la la Trudy! That sounds so good. I haven’t been to Cape Cod since I was a kid. It’s totally on my bucket list. Let me know if you find any fave spots! Until then, I can live vicariously through you. 🙂

      Big love,
      Lynne x

I want the Soma midnight blue sofa bed! heart eyes emoji!! Summer plans are drinking and crying into the laundry, haha. But also a fun trip with the relatives to a rental cabin type thing on a lake. I will read my kindle in the shade because I’m getting sunburned just thinking about being outside. I love outside though! Such is life. I would like to float on a pool raft and have a cabana boy bring me drinks.

    • Erhhhmergerd Lauren,
How’d I miss seeing that they have a sofa bed? That’s stinking cauuuute ! I am smitten with their Sven sofa too ! Have you seen the roll end cushions on it? I think I can hear the angels singing. hhahahaaha.

I’ve been totally curious about reading outside with a kindle. Good idea! I usually have a book but it ends up like it has hit a war zone by the end of summer. LOL.

Good luck with the contest !
      Lynne xx

I use a Kindle Paperwhite, which works in sun or shade and has no eye-strain or blue light. Plus it doesn’t really have apps / social media / games, so I don’t get distracted. I just read. My very high-tech solution for reading on a pool float is a 1-quart ziplock plastic bag, haha!

All the sofas are totally cute. I am not as gaga over mid-century modern as others, so I like that Article has pieces that aren’t hard-core MCM.

My summer plans are to visit the beach at least one! Thanks for the chance to win! I love patio outdoor furniture as well!

    • OOOhhhh the beach. Hello h.e.a.v.e.n. Isn’t it so magical to be at a beach? I may need to drag my patio chair to a beach next. LOL.

Good luck with the contest !! Woot !

We’ll be moving to the country this summer! My daughter just broke her arm and can’t get her cast wet for 3 weeks so we won’t be doing summer activities for a while!! Hello movie theaters! ???? love your backyard ???? ..I guess I NEED all the things now! ????

    • Dang it, broken arm. Eeeeeek. But helloooooo movie theatres! LOVE. Have you seen any good movies lately? I want to see ADRIFT but haven’t seen it playing in a theatre near me yet. Hello country living and nowhereville options. LOL.

      Big love! Happy summer!
