Where we shop

Design Consultation

I’m almost speechless.

I said almost, don’t get too giddy.

Everything you need to make a chunky wool blanket is here!  These chunky knit blanket kits are beyond perfect and luscious and sexy and you’ll want to hug your blanket and call it Betty. Or Veronica. Or Clara. Or Isobel. <—-these are all gorgeous chunky wool blanket kits. Each one includes the wool, knitting needles, pattern and swag 🙂

We named our blanket patterns after our Grandma’s.  Legit.  Because we love our Nana’s and totally appreciate the art of living life in the slow lane.

The blanket featured throughout this blog post is called Veronica 🙂 and you can find the pattern and/ or kit here in our shop. x

Today, I’m keeping it brief, not to be confused with showing you my briefs, which might make things kinda awkward between us.

You and I are more than friends. We are like a really small knitting gang.

AND we have some knitting to do.

Chunky wool knit blanket kits are here!

I super hollered that ^^^^^ !!!!!!%$#@##$%%

PS. this chunky wool blanket kit is called Isobel. Isn’t she adorable? I need to brush my hair. So me, not so adorable. haha.

Knitting unwinds me and keeps me from unravelling << See what I just did there?!

We have a lot of chunky wool blankets in our home.

Like, a lot.

No really, a LOT LOT.

Now, for the star of the show…… Hello Veronica.

Originally, setting up our shop was during my kitchen renovation (kill me.) The kitchen finnnnnnally got better. Want to see it? Here you go! That was also a time when I constantly felt like throwing a cocktail in someone’s face. (Or curling up in a dark corner and crying.) And hello Michaels cancer.  Cancer has a way of punching you in the feelings.

It’s at these exact times in my life where I read stacks of trashy magazines, binge-watch Netflix shows, write super boring scintillating blog posts + create chunky wool blanket kits … because the more FUN I pour into my work, the happier my soul becomes.  Did I just sound like a corn dog?  Don’t answer that. It wasn’t a real question.

It takes balls to knit.

Knit your own chunky knit blanket ! Fabulous patterns, wool, knitting needles and chunky knit blanket kits via Lynne Knowlton | DESIGN THE LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVE

Yes, that’s an enormo amount of throw pillows on my bed, why do you ask?

I   H A D   A   R O U G H   W E E K

I woke up one day a couple of weeks ago and was like…WHOA! I know what I must do. I must put chunky wool blanket kits in our shop. My coffee was strong. In hindsight, perhaps I should have spiked my coffee.  Yes.  Most definitely. Why the hell didn’t I spike it ?!!%$! *throat punches self.

And. And. And.

M Y   S O C K S   T R I E D   T O   M U R D E R   M E

OKAY.  This is based on a mostly true story. Some of this actually happened. My socks kicked my ass and took my name.

M Y    O R I G I N A L    P L A N :

I had big plans.  A while back, I put on my big girl panties and set out to slay some knitting dragons by duct taping my iPhone to the ceiling for a photo sesh (you are so judging me right now, aren’t you?)  That’s cool. I judged my choices too hahaha *palm hits forehead.

I know you are secretly-not-so-secretly already laughing at my genius-not-so-genius duct tape contraption. In my defence, I had inhaled copious quantities of motor oil coffee.  Coffee clearly gives my unrealistic expectations.  What I should have been thinking was…

Step aside coffee. This is a job for alcohol.

W H A T    actually   H A P P E N E D …

My photo sesh started off pretty sweet.  I stood on my bed, (hyperventilating from excitement) while duct taping my phone to the ceiling. Oh to be a fly on the wall that day.  I bet the flies were even laughing at me.

It seemed the harder I worked, the slower things seemed to go. Am I f’n ancient ? I’ve seen jello move faster.  Apparently I’m 102 years old.

Enter total gong show.

I not-so-delicately-nor-lady-like-took-my-phone-off-the-ceiling-while-swiftly-slipping-and-teetering-off-the-edge-of-my-bed-until-I-flipped-in-my-effffing-socks-and-catapulted-directly-and-promptly-while-face-planting-the-floor.

I basically had my ass delivered to me.

So I cried.

That’s what grown ass adults do. #AmIRite ?

The socks survived. My ego. Not so much.  I bruised pretty much every square inch of my body. Including the unmentionables.

I also realized in that moment that blogging isn’t a glamorous job, but still.  #FML.

Blogging often looks a little like unemployment to your mother and could more accurately be titled “Professional E-Mailer & Couch Potato Who Knits On The Side.”

*finds potato chip in sofa cushion*

The good news is… the KNIT COLLECTION was born.

CHUNKY KNIT BLANKET KITS :  Good things inside

Didja see all those blanket pics up there in the blog post !? ^^  Told ya, a total beaut. You should totally knit one. For fashion, and for crime fighting. I’m losing my mind over it. It’s ridiculous UGH. Dead. I really think you should just go for it.

The chunky knit blanket kits each come with the wool, knitting needles, pattern, swag AND free knitting pattern too!  Sorry to yell. It’s just so good.  So so so good.

This blanket pattern / kit is called Isobel. xx

  2. Susan says:

Lynne, is blue grey blanket kit still available?

  3. Lynn says:

How can I buy one of your chunky blanket kits?

  4. Elizabeth Rose says:

I love your chunky blankets How can I buy one if your kits for chunky blankets what colours do you have and what is the price of a complete kit I look forward to hearing from you soon I live in New Zealand what country are you from Do you deliver to New Zealand

    • Hi Elizabeth

You can find our kits here in our online shop :

We ship to New Zealand ( and love it there too!) What a beautiful place! We are located in Ontario, Canada. The colours we have available are cream, blue/grey and blush pink.

We will only be selling our kits for a short while (until our inventory is out of stock) and then they will no longer be available. If you would like to order, it may be great to do so soon, before they are gone.

Hope that helps and happy knitting !!!
      Big love!
      Lynne xx

  5. Kim Faith says:

So why or why can I not find 25mm circulars needles in Ontario, Canada???????

  6. Judi Burnes says:

Ohhhhh Lynne, I ordered the seed stitch blanket kit and received it today. Waited till hubby went to bed before I opened it, hoping he didn’t hear my screeches of delight. But no screeches of delight, instead a long sighhhhhhh of pure bliss when the beautiful grey yarn and I met – it was like nirvana for knitting. I sat there surrounded with all the yarn contemplating just falling asleep right there. And The Needles, the sizzors, the packaging and right before Christmas. My present to me and I deserve it (bad year, hubby hospitalized 5 times, etc). Since I live in Central California, it never gets chilly enough for the two strands type of blanket, so I’m opting for single strand and making two blankets. How many stitches would you recommend for a single strand blanket. I won’t be able to use The Needles this time, but someday they’ll be right there waiting for a nummy project. Thanks, Lynne, you always brighten my day and today it lit up like the 4th of July.

All my best wishes to you and Michael for a beautiful Christmas and New Year. Thanks again!!

  7. Karen says:

Does the kit include enough yarn to make the tassels?

    • Hi Karen,
I usually use 2-3 extra balls of wool to make the tassels and/ or pompoms. We sell it the extra bundles here. PS. Sooooo sorry I took so long to reply to your note. I just saw it today. Hello holidays. LOL. Happy knitting, Lynne!

  8. Theresa Bilben says:

I’m soooo saving up for the crazy tassel blankie. Gorgeous!!!

  9. Beth says:

Hi, I love your blog. I subscribed and got a different pattern.. Where is the pattern that isnt knit 4 purl 4 with tassels and not veronica or clara, the one. I’d like is the other cream one that looks like all knit with a bit of a border with a different stitch pattern amd tassles. Maybe you udated it but that is the pattern I’d like.

  10. Deborah Weiss says:

I love this throw and want to make it for my daughter who just moved to London UK. I would like to make it in pale/medium grey with white and red flecks (heathered sort of). Can I use 3 strands of chunky grey and add one strand of thin red wool and one strand of thin white wool? Would that achieve the look or would it just look like a dog’s breakfast?

    • Hi Deborah, that is a good question. There are a lot of colours going on there, but it may be worth a try. I would do a small test patch first to see what you think 🙂 Happy knitting, Lynne

  11. Anna says:

    hi Lynne,

Wow, I can’t believe it! I never win anything. I’m so grateful-this is exciting! I’m so looking forward to using this amazing kit to make a blanket that I can curl up under. It’s been awhile since I made anything, so I’m really looking forward to making a beautiful blanket, and learning something new. I might even let four crazy kids curl up under there with me! I’m sure they’ll want me to show them how to knit their own blankets as soon as they see me doing it…they are a creative bunch…this will be inspirational! It’s been a challenging winter and this is such a ray of sunshine. Huge thanks and hugs going your way! xoxo

    • Congrats Anna !!! I’m really happy for you too! It was so hard, reading through so many beautiful comments, as everyone is a winner to me xo… and your story was so beautiful too. It truly has inspired me to do so many more giveaways on the blog this year.

I wish I had a million blanket kits to give away. I really do. But I have some new ideas on other wonderful giveaways now too 🙂 xx

Get ready to snuggle up and knit with the kiddos 🙂 underfoot. Excuse the pun. Your poor ankle! I hope you are healing well. I’ll send you an email this week so we can exchange deets and you can give me your mailing address / info etc.

      Big love!
      Lynne xx

  12. Tamara Creel says:

    Congratulations Anna!!!
    Woot Woot!!!!

  13. Kudos and cupcakes, Anna, and Happy Knitting!

  14. Jo Fleming says:

Super thoughts – now I feel fairly normal! I haven’t been out for 10 days (MS) but still managed some knitting. Mind you – wool getting thicker – needle size increasing!!! Those circular needles look fab – on my list as I type!

Many thanks for the humour – we need it to stay sane or not.

    Kind thoughts

    Jo x

If you truly, truly loved me, and absolutely wanted to make me cry (betcha you can’t) then you would pull up your big girl thong and knit me one of those chunky blankets…..only if you love me….sniff, sniff….xxx or at least convince your Mom to.????

  16. Nean says:

Holy Thursday Batman! I went into a knitting coma for about four days. I knit a bunch of scarves for an auction we have at our school to raise funds for special items teachers may need throughout the year to improve their students’ educational experience! Hah, that was a mouthful. I wanted to tell you thank you for teaching me how to join my yarn ends so no more tails sticking out! there should never be cat tails in your blankets! I can’t believe I didn’t know how to do that before! What new projects are you up to? I learn how to cable! Super ease! Stay calm and knit on!

    • Hi Nean! Isn’t that theeeeeeeee best knitting tip / secret sauce ever?!! I included that secret sauce in all my knitting patterns because I was getting soooo tired of having all those willy nilly bits of wool sticking out everywhere, that never seemed to stay put (where I apparently had weaved them in ) ha! Solved!!

PS. which pattern did you buy to learn the technique? I think I’m going to create a pillow pattern next for my next project or maybe macrame! I have been also making a million pom poms for blankets 🙂

      Knitters gonna knit!
      Happy knitting!
      Lynne xx

  17. Pam Young says:

Recently (very recently) I learned to knit and ran across your blog while looking for blanket patterns. Just had to order some big needles from you cause I love the look of these chunky blankets.
Happy dance….I received my knitting needles a couple of days ago. Love the way they were packaged (even the mailing envelope looks nice). The bag for the needles, the cute little pom pom and the postcards all add a nice touch, more like a gift than something I ordered. I even have a frame that will work really well for the “I knit. What’s Your Superpower?” postcard. Your videos are great and I love to look at your blog. (confession: I haven’t taken your site off my computer since I found it, just love to see those blankets whenever I wake up my computer.)

    • I’m soooooooo happy you loved the knitting needles and packaging Pam !! I wrap each parcel like I’m bundling up a baby. A well dressed baby. But not a baby I would send through Canada Post. Wait. Where was I? haha!

I really love making every single parcel a SPECIAL gift that arrives at your door. So happy you loved it.

      Cheers & happy knitting!!!
      Lynne xx

  75. Leanne G says:

I’m a newbie, somewhere in my genes lurk knitting skills handed down from Grandma (I hope). Thing is, I have never seen such beautiful stuff so artfully photographed, and “graphic designed” as what I have discovered on your site. So, what are you besides a knitter, designer, marketer, writer? I am inspired, and jealous, I admit, can’t help but think you put a heck of a lot of thought and creative juice into everything you do, despite being so aloof about it! Really. Amaze-balls! I will continue to snoop, and dream!

    • Hi Leanne! Thank you for your lovely comment. I’m totally blushing over here. So many compliments, I may not be able to get my head through the door. teehee. Really, THANK YOU.

Yes, a ton of thought and creative juice happens. I can’t help it. I have the imagination that is crazier than a curly straw. ha.

You have a good point tho! Maybe I should share an ebook teaching what I have learned along the way. Everything I do on the site is self taught. Photos, design, marketing, writing… so if I can learn it, anyone can 🙂

I’m an old dog. It’s should be hard to teach me new tricks. ahha.

      Big love! Happy to share!
      Lynne xx

  106. Marissa says:

I always love reading your posts because they make me laugh! I fell recently in a similar way, except I was trying to catch a bird that came in our house through the fireplace, and I crushed side table…..what is more than crushed? I don’t know, but that table was it. And I had the major bruises to show for it! (and bruised ego haha).
I LOVE knitting, I LOVE chunky blankets, and I would LOVE to win this kit!

    • Oh my goodness Marissa, these things have a way of crushing an ego don’t they? I think my body is still weeping. Well, I’m still weeping too. LOL. Sending love right back atcha! Lynne xx

  111. Jamie b says:

I really REALLY want to win this kit and knit a chunky blanket for my couch! Unless you think it might kill me. Was the give-away yarn a close friend of your socks…? Get back to me.

  112. Tracy says:

Thank you for the modern cozy blanket pattern. I can make it for my little granddaughter in her favorite color, pink. A soft grey will be beautiful in my daughter’s modern farmhouse apt., AND my dad-in-law would love to cozy up in one of these! Woohoo!

  113. Jeanne says:

OMG! So sorry to read of your crash landing! I know you bruised your ego and other bits, but your description of it is funny (it’s not funny)! Yes, always opt for the alcohol on a flight! Maybe a few more throw pillows? Like on the floor around the bed? Super glad you weren’t seriously hurt! Be careful out there, we need you!

  114. Lyn Rodgers says:

Hi Lynne, I love you. You are like one of my sister’s! Every time I read one of your blogs I am smiling!! I made one of your chunky blankets a few years ago for my niece/goddaughter for her bridal shower, she loves it… I would love to win one that you made for myself! Lyn

  115. Hilda says:

Love, Love, Love your blogs! Thank you for sharing your world with us!! Would *almost* kill to win the chunky blanked giveaway ????????

  116. holly says:

You crack me up but you also inspire…funny: humor is like air to me, gotta have it, creative: your recipes for food and essential oils satisfies hunger, soulful: insights into a painful struggle with the hubs, You are a well-rounded woman that gently shows the way to a fulfilling life. Thank you for sharing all with us, tidy to messay. Love the kit – starting knitting as a child in Wisconsin. What else is there to do when snow flies? My mother owned a yarn shop, the Lamb’s End. Miss those “shopping” forays squeezing balls of delicious yarn. Now mother is gone and I am in Southern California where yarn shops vanished years ago. Knitting on the beach is not easy! Would i love the kit – fer sure dude!

    • Holly. Your words. So stinking BEAUTIFUL !!! I’m speechless. PS. that never happens. LOL. Thank you for sharing your epic words and memories!!! Big love! Lynne xx

  117. Lynne says:

Hi Lynne! It’s Lynne!!!! You don’t know how much I love to read your blogs!!! You totally have a way of making lemonade out of lemons!! I always manage to laugh out loud when I read your blogs and read portions out loud to whomever is sitting near! Thank you for sharing everything! Wish I could sit down with you over with a cup of coffee/scratch that-a drink-and have you teach me to knit!!! I adore your chunky blankets!!

    • Thanks Lynne! Love your name ! Love it ! Love it ! Love it !!! So sweet of you to tell me that you love to read my blog posts. I officially have a bucket load of lemonade around here. Life has a way of handing me some pretty big fat lemons.

      Sending love right back atcha!
      Lynne xx

  118. Maria says:

Greetings from Florida! Love your blog! We bought a home here a year ago and are slowly decorating…….would love to win the blanket kit!

  119. Ann K Smith says:

Hi Lynne. Your blogs are a real “pick-me-up”. They’ve inspired me to pick up my knitting needles again :-):-):-):-)
I would love to win your blanket kit, but so I can make my bed as comfy as yours looks, for when I’m Netflixing.

  120. Love ❤️ your witty blogs! Winning your knit kit is just what I need to inspire me to get back into knitting!

  121. I would really love to win your blanket kit but I can’t promise I will knit it fast. I have just pulled out a scarf that I started knitting two years and many gifts ago.

    • Kathy! You need to meet my Mom. She still has a scarf that she started knitting for me when I was a new born baby. hahaahaha.

Okay, truth serum here.. that’s what I love about these blankets…you can pick up where you left off (even years later LOL) and it is easy to just knit from there. No counting, no trying to figure out if it’s the left arm or right toe haha… it’s so easy when it’s a blanket.

Hope you knit a chunky wool blanket! xx

  122. I am a Grandma so I’m so happy you named your blanket patterns after yours! I hope I win the blanket kit and congratulations on your new kitchen! Kathy Caldwell

  123. Luisa Morris says:

Thank you! I have only ever knitted scarves and one gloomy November day I was scrolling YouTube and I came across your video of you making your chunky knit blanket and you made me laugh so much. Then I saved my birthday money to get the wool. I have nearly finished it and it been a joy to do!! Can’t wait to try the next one!! thanks

  124. Peggy Andrews says:

OK Lynne you talked me into it. I’m entering your contest. My Mother taught me to knit 60 years ago…. My gosh seems like yesterday….. Lately I’ve been reminiscing about those wool socks she would make my Father and myself. Every Christmas you could count on a stocking full of socks and mitts and maybe, just maybe, an orange from China. and nuts from Brazil. In fact, she even knitted us those matching heavy sweaters… you know the ones with the deer and moose on the front with big leather buttons!

So, if Mom could do that; “Why can’t I knit a beautiful blanket for my friend?” My friend really needs some good warm hugs! If I win, it certainly would give me the ‘kick in the butt’ required to start knitting. Also the older I get the more I realize, I am just a ‘recycled teenager’. I’m wanting to do all the things I did as a young women… well almost everything. Don’t think the boobs could handle bundgy jumping now!

    • Hi Peggy!
Isn’t that the great thing about knitting? It’s like riding a bike. The skill sticks with you forever. woooohooooo!!! LOVE.

Seriously tho, that kind of reminiscing sounds epic, beautiful, incredible. What a treat to have that for Christmas morning! Beautiful !

I hope you get a chance to knit a beautiful blanket for your friend.

      Big love,
      Lynne xx

  125. Mona says:

Love love LOVE these blankets, one of them would have been amazing on my couch! Especially here in Norway, where the winter is long and cold.

  126. Vanan says:

Already finished my very first chunky blanket! Thanks for all the inspiration! Found my new time suck… and it’s so much more rewarding than Pinterest!

  127. Deborah VanEtta says:

What gorgeous blankets! Harold Raines, a former editor of the NYT, wrote a book called “Fly Fishing Through the Midlife Crisis”. Fly fishing was his salvation. I opt for knitting, which always has the ability to create a calm place where strength can be regrouped. And you get beautiful pieces like your blankets.

    • I think i should write a book Deborah ! Now I need a fly fishing knitting version title. How about ‘ I knit. What’s your superpower?’ hahaha Or ” I knit, so I don’t unravel ” LOL.

      Big love and happy knitting!
      Lynne xx

  128. Betty Osborne says:

    Betty O

I had been knitting scarves with the knit stitch only… until I found your blog and a whole new world opened into my knitting realm. Your talent made me dive in to knit more intrigent stitches and I’m on my 2nd blanket. You are amazing and I would love to win one of your creative products… You definitely make a unique impression on your knitting buddies. So… thank you!!! And I’m wishing you and your family all the best!!!!

  129. Lonna says:

Love it! Limited knitting skills but I would love to take on this project.

  130. Mairead C says:

Seriously girl, you make my day whenever I read your blog/emails. Today, for instance, I haven’t stopped laughing at the saying “Step aside coffee. This is a job for alcohol” and this is why I love you. Your site is far more than knitting some days it is everything!.. Your chunky knit would be like having a warm hug from a friend I have never met but feel so aligned with.. I’ve never knitted before but this chunky knit has me hankering to learn the craft. as Rhonda below said – it’s just coming into knitting season downunder.

    • Oh heck yeah Mairead, there are just some days that are meant for alcohol. Coffee has no place for it. Unless the alcohol is in the coffee. hahaha.

It is realllllllly super easy to learn how to knit. I think you should just go for it. With all my chunky knit blankets, I only use 2 basic stitches. KNIT AND PURL. Once you know how to do that, you can do anything 🙂 xx

  131. Donna says:

I just love your blog Lynne – everything – the photos, the colours, your inspirational & funny words of wisdom & your take on life & of your course your throws – well done!

The yarn looks scrumptious! I’ve been knitting a blanket with one of your patterns but not with good yarn like this… (And, it’s been taking forever.) Thank you for these great chunky blanket patterns!

    • Hi Mary Kay,

I did the same thing for years. I knit with yarns that were affordable, but acrylic… and while they are good for practice (YAY!) I eventually tried a 100% soft warm wool one. GAME CHANGER. The good news is, you’ve got the practice in now with all the other yarns. You go girl ! Keep knitting! Keep doing! You rock!
      Lynne xx

      • Marulé MacKay says:

        Hi Lynne

I’m so in love with your blog, homes and beautiful pastel soft creations. I was at the point where I felt our bedroom colours etc is not as soft looking, aesthetically pleasing, inviting and comfy as I wanted it. Then I discovered your blog and it changed everything!!! I’ve always desired a beautiful bedroom/bed… alluring. I want to walk into our bedroom and feel an uncontrollable crazy urge to fall onto the bed and melt away in softness. You have inspired me and I’m so excited. What I would like to know is, I live in South Africa and I’m not sure if you sell your knitting kits internationally? Secondly, I’m very interested in your knitted scatter cushion covers as desplayed on your bed with the chunky blanket. Do you have a patter for these?

        Live. Love. Knit **

        • Hi Marulé

Yes, we ship all over the world. Yay! And yes, I am sharing a knitted pattern soon for a knitted pillowcase. So fun and easy to do !

I’m so happy that you have been inspired to make your space a super comfy cozy space!! That is just great to hear!

          Live. Love. Knit.

  148. Fran B says:

I love the two blanket patterns and would love to win either blanket kit. Blankets are fun to knit because it is cosy and becomes a beautiful gift for someone right before your eyes. Knitting a blanket is a perfect companion with a good movie or series on Netflix and a glass of wine. 🙂

  150. Janet G says:

This is soo on my list to make, just as soon as I stop melting in this summer heat, I really dislike Summer, ugh. I swear (not swear, swear but promise swear) I have made a galijjion ice cubes and now there is only one bag left, someone has obviously been drinking too many ‘home made Baileys’ this season, not me, but ya know…….somebody 😉

Me and my ice cubes are seriously waiting for winter and then the knitting can begin =)
Hmm, I wonder if the local store would let me knit in their cool room??
I could knit a lot sooner that way =)

  151. Karen says:

Lynn your socks are insane to treat you that way! BTW made your #2 spray and gifted my kids! Fun AND functional!

  152. Gail says:

I remember many, many moons ago, when I first learnt to knit. How I loved changing a strand of wool into a blanket, scarf, hat…. The joy of creating something new by your own hand! I recently took up knitting again, and was so pleased to see sights like yours – that presented knitting as an art form, a skill, a craft, a way to create something you love, to give/share with those that you love. Your photos, despite the mishaps with phones on ceilings and slipping socks, are sublime, tranquil, calming & inspiring. Keep up the great work.

  153. Elizabeth says:

These blankets look amazing! I recently took up knitting again and just knit a baby blanket and now want to knit a larger cozy one for me.

  164. Cindy A. says:

I wish I could give you a hug. I’m sorry you fell. If it makes you feel any better I once fell face first in a restaurant parking lot at lunchtime. The place was packed so everybody and their mother saw my incident. I was battered and bleeding, but I jumped up before anybody could check on me. I hobbled into the restaurant bathroom to clean myself up and wait for my face to turn back to a normal shade. Haha! It felt like everybody was staring at me when I finally emerged. I got over the embarrassment, but not ripping a big hole in my favorite jeans. Sigh… I still miss those jeans.

    • Ohhhh my goodness Cindy. That sounds tragic. LOL. You poor thing. Well… at least you didn’t have toilet paper on the bottom of your shoe when you came out of the bathroom. Oh wait. Maybe you did. That is basically the story of my life. I’m THAT gal with the toilet paper on the shoe or my skirt tucked in my underwear. Now you don’t feel bad anymore, do you? LOL LOL LOL

      Big love!
      Lynne xx

  165. Yifat Cestare says:

The blanket looks so squishy and cozy. I would love to cuddle up with it.

  166. Wow ! ! !
How long did it take you to write this?
I wondered if it was going to take me until April 1 to read it – and it would end with “APRIL FOOLS!'”
Glad it didn’t, because I love the blanket! Could I possibly win it???

    • Hi Paula,
I must be the worlds loooooooongest writer, because it truly takes me weeks to write a blog post. I get so excited and involved in writing it… and I can never shorten it to a wee couple of paragraphs. I think a story is way more fun 🙂

I’ll never be one of those bloggers that can churn out content every day in wee little snippits of short form content. I’m an old fart like that. So to answer your question… nope… it isn’t April Fools and I hope my blog post wasn’t too long for your liking.

Big love and happy knitting !
      Lynne xx

  167. Nydia Santos says:

I love these blankets! They look so squishy and amazing!!! I’d love to win this kit because quite frankly, being a full time college student, I don’t really have the kind of money to buy awesome quality wool…. or patterns… or really anything that costs more than like $10, even with a coupon. Winning this kit would make me so so so happy.

  187. Lori says:

  188. Mom xxxooooo says:

Well I love your latest creation….your new knitted blanket. xoxo And I think I should win because Veronica was my mom…… and your nana. LOL And after all I think I might have taught you how to knit…..or wait, did you teach me? Who cares, I think I deserve a prize just for raising you. Or a gold star at least :o) Really, you do beautiful job creating the patterns and knitting. xxxoooo

    • Hi Momma!!

So cool that we named the blanket after Nana, huh? Yes, you did teach me how to knit … and all I can think about is how many times you had to fix those holes in my knitting. Like, 53 rows back.. I’d discover a hole in my scarf. LOL.

With love, from the ONE knitted legging gal (OMG, funniest Christmas ever).
      Love you Mom!
      Peaches xx

I so enjoy reading your blog, you are a very funny lady and I very much admire your strength. I am a knitter of sorts I guess, I make little knitted hats for the premature baby unit in our local hospital I’ve lost count of how many I’ve knitted but it sure helps me keep my weight down, when my hands are busy they are not shovelling candies in my mouth!!! ????????., I stay slim and the babies stay warm win win ????????. Keep on blogging, smiling and staying strong, oh and yes I love your chunky blankets.❤️

    • Awhhhh Wendy ! That is so sweet that you give back to so many. I bet all the preemie Moms & Dads just LOVE you and the special gift! So thoughtful.

I am the chiefest of all procrastinators known or not known on the earth since the days of Adam and Eve… these kids are going to be in college before I get them done, and now here YOU are trying to distract me and get me knitting !!!!! Heck, I have yet to do my income tax by the soon arriving date in April !!! Holy Catfish ! these scrapbook thingies have been sitting in my guest room and migrated to the dining room, back into the guest room and even on two trips to Florida. !! it is all still mostly in boxes in the guestroom, where I do have my folding tables set up since about 3 weeks ago but the stuff is still in the boxes. Please don’t let me pick up knitting things…. uh no. And the IRS of the USA is calling my name……. I cant take it !

  215. Hey Lynne, I must admit I’ve been procrastinating for likely 2 years now on making one your GORGEOUS blankets. It’s all part of my retirement plan…coming soon hopefully. To knit and watch tv and macrame. The last time I knit I was in my teens and made a royal blue v-neck sweater…also the last time I macramed. Got it all done, well except for sewing it together. Guess I was a procrastinator back then too. If I am lucky enough to win this I can even save you shipping costs and pick it up (being from Southampton and all). Fingers and toes crossed!

    • Ha ! Good point Laura! Or better yet.. maybe one of these days you should pop over and have a treehouse visit and we can stare at all our unfinished knitting projects. LOL!

Your blanket is beautiful and I love both of the patterns as well as your blog. So comfortable and inviting.

Oh yeah, I really rocked that back in the 70s (I’m sure you weren’t even born then – will flattery get me a blanket kit?). Anyhoo, I’ve been thinking about getting back into that one of these days. Although the last thing I need is another craft lol.

    • Flattery always helps Marlene. LOL LOL LOL but unfortunately I’m f’n ancient hahaha and I was born in the 60’s.

Macrame is definitely going to be my new bestie soon. It’ll be like a childhood flashback. ha!

  256. jane odonnell says:

Contrary to popular belief, you canNOT drink wine and teach yourself how to knit at the same time. Or the next day, even. But, I digress. I bought that luscious yarn (not a fan of the color I chose, but oh well) and taught myself how to knit (durn, those biggy needles are hard to get used to). I was doing ok, a few holes here and there but, hey, it’s my first blanket (yes, with $$$$ yarn but I like to live dangerously). I decided I would take a look at the pattern. “Knit with TWO yarns together. NOT THREE). I’m still unraveling because I will come up one ball short and I refuse to give up. It’s unraveling quite nicely, surprise surprise. I would love to win this kit (now that I think I know how to knit) but, if I don’t, I will buy the blue yarn anyway (when it comes back into stock). Or, maybe I will buy the cream yarn. Because. Cream. You know. HUGS! Love your blog! Wish we lived closer! Cheers!

    • Hahaha Jane, you are hilarious and good on ya for learning how to knit! What yarn colour did you purchase? Was it from the Etsy seller? Did you use the super big straight needles or circular needles? I have so many questions and so little time. hahaaha.

The blue wool that we have is soooooooo pretty. Like. WOW pretty. The creamy wool is too, but the blue stands out like oh la la !

Wish we lived closer too. I like how you live dangerously. LOL!

      Lynne xx

Love this blanket and kit! I’ve been too nervous to try a blanket, this one is dreamy!

  294. Donna Marchlewski says:

They’re scoffers. This family of mine. They clearly don’t understand my desire to be covered up with a big ole blanket, head to toe, well, with the exception of one foot hanging out, you know, so I can breathe. Sure, I live in Florida. I know it can be hot as the dickens outside, but on the inside it’s like a late spring day. (Thank you my hard working A/C.) As the day ends, I may, or may not, shamelessly sprawl on the sofa, all cozied up, binge watching my shows or reading my books.

The problem, well sorta, is that I have three young grandchildren that have taken up permanent residence in our home. While we absolutely LOVE that we have the honor of “training up” this next generation, it does not discount the fact that they are all BLANKET THIEF’S!. I have my limits you know. My most favorite blanket is now claimed by a small, six year old child.

Anyhoo, all that to say, yes, I would love to have that big, fat, chunky, wool blanket in my life. It would live on my sofa, or bed, or desk chair, or, well, it would be wherever I am ’cause of those little blanket snatchers wandering about… thank you. I love you.

    • Ahhhh Donna, you sound like theeeeeee best Grandma of life. I really believe you need to adopt me. I also ADORE that you are going to ‘train up’ the next generation. F’real… it’s so lovely to knit and can you imagine how many kids can operate a video game but not knitting needles? We need to start a knitting generation train up. haha.

Sending you huge [[ HUGS ]] for the epic-ness you do in taking care of the kiddos and knitting blankets. You rock out loud.

      Lynne xx

  295. Naomi Foster says:

I have been wanting to have this blanket for over a year but wanted to make it myself and was too lazy or preoccupied to assemble all the necessities but YOU did it so I just ordered the kit and can’t wait to start it. If I win the contest I will have 2!! Even better. Thanks

  296. Roni Brown says:

  297. Val says:

  298. Ronda says:

I’m starting a blanket for my daughter … for the third time!!! Too many stitches, too few … its trial and error, with lots of emphasis on error! So, what I wouldn’t love more than to win a chunky blanket just for me!!! Too many exclamation pounts? sorry … bad habit I’ve been told. Can’t help myself.

So, I will make my sister knit one for me. Great idea Millie! Sisters love to do things to make sisters happy!
I need a pattern that is 6 inches longer on the bottom for my tall husband. One that is 6 inches wider on one side for my brittney. 6 inches longer on the other side for my moose of a springer and 12 inches longer on the top because that is normally all that is left for me.

Love reading the blog and your Pinterest! Keep having adventures, but watch out for socks. They’re shifty buggers, some of them.

    • Socks are dangerous, I tell ya Kelli. Totally dangerous. LOL. I put the socks away in a time out corner and told them to never look at me sideways again. I sure taught them. Now my feet are freezing 🙂 Lynne xx

Oh, my goodness, your newsletter last week about the treacherous socks couldn’t have been more timely. I’d had my own bizarre sock experience which I’d shared on my own website, and then your story came along and I had to share it with my subscribers to prove that socks are out to get us! Unfortunately, I couldn’t provide a link to share with them at the time. I did my best quoting and directing folks to your site, but I don’t’ think it had the same effect as you telling it. Any chance you can provide a webpage version of your newsletters in the future? That would be awesome for sharing purposes. 🙂 I LOVE your newsletters so much; they always brighten my day. You are proof positive that laughter is the best medicine. A chunky blanket isn’t bad either. 😉 Would love one of my own. Much love & laughter to you and yours!

    • Penny! That’s a brilliant idea.. and I never thought to share the web version of it, because I was like… wait.. does anyone ever read the web version? LOL. I will do that for my next newsletter. So watch for it 🙂

      thanks for the awesome tip!!

      Big love, big laughs!
      Lynne xx

    Hi Lynne,
I “lurv” your blog. I started with you a couple of years ago and love that your writing more often now. Throughout a year filled with family illness (cancer) and stress, I have turned to knitting… it’s been how I’ve carved out a little island of sanity in my life … it’s crazy…. but I love it. My next fun little step will be to pour a glass of wine while I knit… you make it look so fun. I’ll be toasting you as I do!! Thank you for the beautiful blanket patterns. I hope to make them someday!! Take care Lynne!

    • Thanks Jane for sticking with me through my growing pains. PS. I’m still going through them ahaha… but life is like that. I feel more inspired to write these days, and it makes a HUGE difference that you took the time to write that and let me know. I’m so grateful to read those words!

Happy knitting and liquid fermented grapes sipping.
      Lynne xx

  447. Erika says:

  448. Auntiepatch says:

Hey GF! The one thing I’ve never learned to do is knit. I took a class when my MIL was in the hospital so I missed a few classes. Love these blankets! And I love your photos of them. I just have to find some of that “free” time to knit one up. I know it is around here somewhere!

BTW my socks tried to murder me too! They threw me down one whole stair (yup – one) and broke my foot. I could hear them laughing at me, as I was left broken on the floor. Stupid socks – why do i love them so much?

  460. Phyllis C Ryan says:

I would love to try a chunky knit blanket with one of your kits. I am currently knitting one with acrylic that is nice but I would like to try the wool also. I did purchase your size 50 needles which I love! They are made well and did not fall apart like the ones I had purchased at a hobby store where I live. I hope I am the winner of a wool blanket kit! Hurray!

    • Hi Phyllis ! Thanks for your purchase of the chunky knit needles! Aren’t they beautiful? Yes, the wool is a whole new experience for the blanket! It has a beautiful weight and feels ahhhhmazing too.

      Big love and happy knitting!

    • Thanks for the love Darci ! Yes, wool does cost more than acrylic foooooshur, but the weight and feel is nicer too. Have you ever tried a wool/ acrylic blend? 470. Ginny says:

I love you! You are just as crazy as I am! You are also fighting with the awful C word as have I which helps make us even crazier.

Love your patterns! They are negative thought blowers; no brainers which is excellent.

Thank you and much love to you and your family.

    • Ha Ginny!! Love that one! A ‘negative thought blower’. It’s true… when a knitting pattern is a no brainer… it is so relaxing and yet keeps your mind busy enough to blow those negative thoughts away.

Thanks for the love !! Sending it right back atcha. Lynne xx

  482. Anna says:

First of all, thanks for making me smile this morning with this awesome blog post! I’m sorry you hurt yourself-I hope you’re feeling better!
I smiled, not at your injury, but at the craziness that goes into running your own business and the lengths that we all go to! I’m always doing crazy stunts and camera angles to take photos of our products for our Instagram & blog.
And I haven’t injured myself yet doing it…but I did manage to slip on our icy road here in Muskoka this winter and break my ankle…and a mama with four kids under 9, one of whom is a crazy 22 month old boy who never stops, cannot be sidelined with her feet up! It has been a challenging winter, with my poor husband taking on more work than usual. I still have four weeks to go in the cast and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have this amazing kit to make my dream blanket while I finish healing! Sending hugs and healing vibes your way! I’ve been praying for healing for your husband also. So much love going your way!

  503. Lisa Mills says:

Your thoughts: are simple and often bawdy, BUT, Lynne I bought the blankie and stuffed the kit in my carryon luggage to bring to Calagsry for my neice’s Wedding – it’s her gift. I had to promise airline security that I would NOT strangle or stab anyone with the needles. As if,,,

I made it in two (count “Em TWO), evenings!!!! So I looked a little goofy at he wedding knitting a monster blankie. – in falsies yet —nails, not bazooms. I think i may be known now as the crazy auntie.

Anywho, Granny wants one because it’s soooo squishy and gorgeous. Don’t it just figure?

    • Lisa!!!! You are incredible !!!!! I wish I was a fly on the wall to watch all that. hahaha! We would travel well together, wouldn’t we? Knitters gonna knit. LOVE that you got ‘er done! You go girl. You are my new knitting super hero !

  506. Amanda says:

    WOOT-WOOT! Chunky knit blanket!

  507. Liberty says:

I’ve been working on a super chunky blanket myself for +/- a year with very little success because of the stupid jerko ends that need to be but can’t be woven in. I keep thinking of buying a pattern specifically to get some insight on dealing with that. Anyone else buy a pattern and have a review for it? I have pretty much figured out what the actual pattern is, just not the tips/tricks for, you know, finishing the dingdangle thing off with any success.

    • Hi Liberty,
It’s amazing when you learn this one ahhhhhmazing tip for how to join the ends so you don’t have to weave in the bits and bobs. It has been a game changer in knitting. Email me, and I will share it with you.

      Big love,

  508. Beth Schmidt says:

I love reading your posts and your blog!! I bought the pattern for your chunky wool blanket and loved making it. I would LOVE to win this blanket kit!! Thanks so much for the opportunity and for making your readers laugh out loud! xoxo

  509. Debi says:

So, I’ve totally not been knitting lately…been in a slump. If I win your blankie kit, I could so get started knitting again, cause I feel totally inspired! What I need is for somebody (you) to put all the stuff I need together and set it down on my doorstep so I can pick it up and ignore all my responsibilities and start knitting again! After seeing this pale blue (fave color) softness, there’s no way I could refuse to knit it immediately. Well, it would take a while…but I would START immediately. And I wouldn’t stop till I finished…no housework, no dishes, no meals, no anything but knitting till it’s done! My poor hubby…OK, I’ll stop long enough to order a pizza. But that’s all. Can’t do anything else till it’s finished! So, you see, I just HAVE to win this blankie kit, cause if I don’t, how can I start knitting again??? I NEED this kit! Thanks in advance, cause I just KNOW I’m gonna win it!

  510. Lynn Wilson says:

I’m soooo in LOVE with this chunky knit blanket I can’t even stand it! It looks so yummy and soft, I could get lost in it for dayzzzz!!!

Love the chunky wool blankets sooooooooo much! I’m recovering from a half marathon and knitting is the best way to keep my hands busy (and away from the refrigerator)!

    • Wow Carolynn
You had me at half marathon! Good for you!! Incredible. I only run when being chased or if there is only one cookie left in the cookie jar.

      Big love!!
      Lynne x

  516. This is, and has been, one of my DREAM birthday projects. You see, every birthday, for the past 4 years, I had the intentions of using that “new found play cash” to buy the materials for a long coveted chunky blanket. BUT, of course, with a house full of 3 kids and 3 dogs, I inevitably use the money on something more needed and practical. I would LOVE to win this…it looks gorgious and super fun (my oasis time from those 6 critters mentioned above). LOL.
Love your blog and your approach to knitting and life in general seems all to familiar to me. Haha

  517. Dawne says:

I obviously would love to win this baby! But even if I don’t, I just sent the link to my husband with a little wink wink, nudge, nudge, and a birthday in… a couple months.

  524. Judi Burnes says:

(With hand raised, waving madly) PICK ME, PICK ME!!! I made the Tasseled Wonder for my Granddaughter for Christmas last year and had enough yarn left over for a lap blanket for moi. Made that while sitting in a hospital when my hubby had a stroke, teeth chattering, hands shaking and fingers numb with fear, so consider my lap blanket a true wonder. Hubby is doing well as can be expected. Thanks Lynne for all the fun you bring to my email. Sending beautiful thoughts to your Michael and to you.

    • Hi Judi !! I am soooooooooo happy that the tasseled wonder and lap blanket made such a difference in your life. It’s ahhhmazing how comforting they can be.

Big love to you and your fam jam!
      Lynne xx

  525. Lori says:

Hilarious! I find coffee, alcohol and duct tape can solve most of life’s problems (not necessarily in that order!). Having been recovering from concussion so this blanket would be lovely to snuggle under.

  526. Jennie says:

Beautiful photos! They were worth the face plant! 🙂 I absolutely love the pattern, and the yarn looks so cozy and squeezable. I have tried a few patterns for a chunky blanket and I can’t seem to get them to turn out how I’d like. Maybe this one will give me better luck! <3

  527. Julia Ryan says:

    Big Blanket Barking!
    But Brilliant!

  528. Susan says:

I think your blanket patterns will revive my knitting passion!! Thanks so much!!

  529. I made my FIRST EVER huuuuuge chunky knit blanket using your pattern. It changed my life 🙂 (That and the loopy mangoes.)

Just bought the new one, making it in Drops Andes alpaca because I’ve got a load of it to use up. Ooh, but the Peruvian looks gorgeous. Might have to get some of that too …

Thanks again for these beautiful patterns.

    • You are most welcome Abigail. It’s amazing how knitting and a good pattern can transform your knitting game. 🙂 You must be a blanket rock star at this point. I’m coming to visit your house. I hear you have nice blankets. LOL.. Lynne xx

    • ahahahahaahahah Mary… remind me why I have kids… I just laughed out loud. So fab that they all knit. Our son knit too when he was younger. The Waldorf school said it made for great eye hand coordination. I was happy. I have enough knit coasters to last a life time. Great memories!
      Sending you big love!
      Happy knitting!
