The most cherished spaces in a home feel intentional, beautifully curated, and deeply authentic.
We bought our home over 25 years ago, and hidden under debris, garbage and weeds, was an old buried stone foundation of the original barn from the 1960's. It took us almost two summers to complete, but we were able to build a timberframe area with a cozy vintage fireplace and outdoor kitchen area. We built the pool within the stone foundation and it truly created a magical space. We spend most of our summer days here .. sipping wine by the fireside or taking soaks in the pool.

Dive into our tips designed to infuse your outdoor space with warmth, texture, and effortless style:
1. Embrace Natural Materials : savour the best of the outdoors by incorporating greenery, ceramic pots, flagstone and wood.
2. Create gathering areas for friends and family. We created an island with a kitchenette, and a fireplace seating area to lounge.
3. Bathroom : For our poolside, we created an outhouse. Not your typical outhouse, a beautiful, nice smelling outhouse. No blue water in there.
4. Pool house: Our pool house not only hosts our pool equipment, but we were also able to hide the pool equipment with a folding station island, install a washing machine and dryer and storage for towels, and treehouse + cabin bedding.
5. As a refresh every year, we buy new lovefresh soaps and lotions, fluffy white towels, beach towels and something new for the kitchen area too. This year, we are aiming for an ice maker :)
6. For years we have used mennonite-made chaise loungers and muskoka chairs. 2025 is our update year. Hope to update our loungers to some beautiful chaise loungers and comfy cozy cushions. Any recos?
