We bought our home over 25 years ago, and hidden under debris, garbage and weeds, was an old buried stone foundation of the original barn from the 1960's. Over the years, we've built a timber frame area with a cozy vintage fireplace and outdoor kitchen area. We built the pool within the stone foundation and it truly created a magical space. We spend most of our summer days here .. sipping wine by the fireside, taking soaks in the pool and chasing frogs out of the pool :)
Dive into our tips designed to infuse your outdoor space with warmth, texture, and effortless style:
1. GO NATURAL : Greenery, clay pots, flagstone, and wood—let the materials echo the outdoors.
2. A PLACE TO GATHER : Create gathering areas for friends and family. We created an island with a kitchenette, and a fireplace seating area to lounge.
3. OUTHOUSE : For our poolside, we created an outhouse. Not your typical outhouse, a beautiful, nice smelling outhouse. No blue water in there.
4. RETHINK THE POOL EQUIPMENT AREA : Hide the equipment, add storage, maybe even a washer/dryer. Practical can still be beautiful.
5. REFRESH YEARLY : New towels, fresh soaps, one fun upgrade. (We’ve got our eye on an ice maker.)
6. LOUNGE LIKE YOU MEAN IT : Think cozy cushions and furniture you actually want to sink into.
